Daily devotion – no surprises for God

Mat 2:13
ΒΆ
And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.

The Magi left Jerusalem and headed home without seeing Herod who wanted Jesus dead. Joseph is instructed by the Lord to take Jesus and his mother and flee south to Egypt. Jesus born in Bethlehem is now a refugee.

Jesus going to Egypt was foretold by the Prophet Hosea 11:1 – When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.

As we view these very early days of our Lord and the dangers He constantly faced, we can only marvel at the providence of God as He ensures the safety and plan that He had for Jesus so that He would complete His work on the Cross at Calvary.

Therefore we should never worry or be concerned about things that rise up out of nowhere and attempt to ensnare us in fear. God has His plan, and it will be done.

Let us enjoy each new day with the knowledge that God is never surprised by the events that befall each of us as we journey on the path, He has laid out for us.

This gives us truly a peace that passes all understanding!
