New Years Eve..2021 – 2022

New Years Eve 2021

As we start a New Year, 2022, deep within my soul is the knowledge that our world, our nation, Christ’s Church, our family and myself are now closer to the coming of Jesus Christ that we have ever been in all of history since His first coming.

There will be people celebrating the New Year of whom it will be their last ever. Our life here on earth is such a fleeting moment when dipped into eternity. Psalm 90:9-10 – we spend our years as a tale that is told. Seventy years are given to us! Some even live to eighty. But even the best years are filled with pain and trouble; soon they disappear, and we fly away.

James tells us that our lives are just a vapour…James 4:14 – How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone.

But when one receives Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour, God gives us much more than just His mercy, His grace and His forgiveness. We receive from Him eternal life.

This is the joy and the hope we each now must carry with us into the New Year 2022. It will be a year of great change. How far further can our world fall morally? Will violence continue its steady climb? What of the Pandemic that has changed our world so rapidly? Wars and rumours of war. They will come, just when and with whom we are not quite sure.

There will be some who will find Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour for the first time in 2022. Sadly, there will also be more who will walk away from Christ and His Church.

But what of your life in 2022?

What is it that God would have you to do with Him and for Him in this coming New Year? There are many things the Bible already lists for us that are His will for our lives right now. To walk with Him, to trust Him, to be in His Word, to be a person of prayer and to be one sharing the Gospel with every listening ear we are led to.

But what of your personal life? Will the New Year change anything about your relationship with God? Will you mature in Him more, will you serve Him in a greater capacity, will you give to Him in a greater way, or will you stay the same?

Actually, there is only growth or atrophy. There is no ‘cruising’.

This New Year, will you take some time personally, to sit with the Almighty and seek His voice?

One thing we can all do is simply pray some very basic things:

– Lord lead my life this coming New Year.
– Lord guide my steps and I give you every situation that I may follow only your directions.
– Father, help me to know you even more this year and to be even more thankful for what you have done.
– This New Year Lord, I rededicate my life again to you.
– May you will be done in my life….I pray in Jesus Name!

Jesus is one more year closer to coming…its sooner now than it has ever been!
