Daily devotion – Changed for Life
“We …..are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory.” – 2 Corinthians 3:18
You can buy a pig, give it a sweet-smelling bath, then sprinkle it with Chanel No. 5, tie a beautiful ribbon around its neck, and take it into your lounge room. But when you let it go outside, it will jump into the first piece of dirt it sees because its nature has never been changed. It’s still a pig.
We constantly with good ideals, try to reform ourselves. New Year’s resolutions abound. Shops are filled with self-help books claiming to hold to personal reformation. But such efforts are only temporary at best. How many health machines (exercise bikes, walkers) end up being the largest clothes hanger?
A deeper transformation is needed – a transformation of our heart.
And it is possible! The Bible teaches that when we come to Jesus Christ, we are spiritually born again. God’s Spirit comes to live within us and change us. Our motives change, our objectives change, our dispositions change, our eternal destiny changes.
No, it does not happen all at once. We will spend the rest of our days learning what it means to follow Jesus Christ. But it begins now, as we open our hearts to Him. Is your life “being transformed…..from glory to glory”?
As you open your Bible each day and feed on the Bread from Heaven, as you spend time alone in God’s presence, speaking to Him and listening to Him, change will come.
It is so beautiful to be able to change from what we were to what God is making us…in His glory.
Amazing grace
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I’m found
Was blind, but now I see
‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed
My chains are gone
I’ve been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood, His mercy rains
Unending love, Amazing grace
The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures
My chains are gone
I’ve been set free (been set free)
My God, my Savior has ransomed me (ransomed me)
And like a flood (like a flood) His mercy rains (mercy rains)
Unending love, oh, Amazing grace
The Earth shall soon dissolve like snow
The sun forbear to shine
But God, Who called me here below
Will be forever mine
My chains are gone
I’ve been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood, His mercy rains
Unending love, Amazing grace (grace)
I once was lost, but now I’m found
Was blind (was blind), but now (but now) I see
