Daily devotion – just a closer walk with Thee
Victor or victim, overcomer or overcome, that is what 2022 holds for those who name the name of Jesus.
“In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” Romans 8:37
I loved that old hymn we used to sing when I was a child, “Onward Christian Soldiers, marching as to war.” But so often when Satan mounts an attack against us, we act as if we were prisoners of war, or worse, conscientious objectors.” But as Christians, we don’t have to live defeated lives. God desires for us to live victorious lives – lives that are constantly conquering sin!
There is only one way to have victory over sin. That is to walk so closely with Christ, by being in His Word, by prayer, so that sin no longer dominates your life. Instead your love for Christ does and Christ’s rule is over every step of your life. Then sin becomes the exception rather than the rule.
Why does a close walk with Jesus Christ make the difference? Simply this: The closer we are to Jesus, the farther we are from Satan. The Bible tells us, “Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” – James 4:7-8
Is the devil farther away from you today than he was a week ago? If not, why?
