Daily devotion – Prayer really….

Pastor Keith   -

When you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans. – Matthew 6:7

Prayer – it’s the very essence and power of the Church in which God provided us to serve Him,  and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, it is the very channel through which God moves in His Church. But yet still the Church of today is pretty much prayer-less. To gather as His people in corporate prayer is still considered by many professed Christians as a – not required gathering.

And the Church remains impotent, and believers continue to lose the battle.

If we would observe carefully the prayer life of Jesus and notice the earnestness with which He prayed. In Gethsemane Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and in the intensity of His supplication He fell headlong on the cold ground and pleaded before His Father until “his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.” – Luke 22:44

Too often – and in very sharp contrast – you and I use petty petitions, oratorical exercises, and the same words we have used for years rather than cries from our soul!

Also, too often when we pray, our thoughts roam. We disrespect God by speaking to Him with our lips while our minds and hearts are far from Him.

It’s time to treat prayer seriously and the lack of it as sinful. The time is growing short, and desperation is needed now more than ever when we come before Him. Not desperation in the regard to lacking trust but desperation in the realization of the power and might that is contained in prayer released and prayer answered!
