Daily devotion – saints…
Eph 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, To the saints who are in Ephesus, and faithful in Christ Jesus:
The word ‘saints’ can also be translated as “God’s holy people” here in Paul’s letter to the Church in Ephesus. It literally means ‘those who have been set apart.”
The word ‘saint’ is related to the word ‘sanctified’ which means “set apart”.
When a sinner trusts in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour, he or she is taken out of ‘the world’ and spiritually / biblically placed “in Christ”.
So, whilst the believer is physically still in the world, we are not of the world spiritually!
This is why we are called by Christ to be ‘salt’ and ‘light’ in a dark world. We no longer ‘dance’ to the philosophy or ways of this world – we live our lives now to a very different tune.
The Apostle John put it in these words – 1Jo 1:7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
One should be able to spot a Christian pretty easy as we go about our daily living. How you speak, how you deal with people are a couple of basic things one should notice.
But most importantly, one should be able to see the love of Jesus Christ clearly visible in a follower of Christ, particularly as we live in such a dark and violent world now.
Can people see Jesus Christ being lived in out you – if you are one of His, you are a saint. Not like one on a stained glass window, but someone who brings Christ with you wherever you go. Someone who now lives their lives firstly to serve Jesus Christ in all that they do.
