Daily devotion – Help me to pray..
Rom 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Prayer, the key to us being used by God, to knowing God along with His Word, yet sadly the very thing most ignored by many followers of Christ today.
But God even helps us out here as well. It says “the Holy Spirit makes intercession for us with…groanings which cannot be uttered…”
It is the depth of prayer of feeling and conviction, yet not a word is spoken. Wordy prayers are not necessarily the most worthy prayers. The most moving feelings are often those sometimes the least expressed!
Did you know that prayers do not always have to be spoken. Nor is it diction and grammar that count. John Bunyan said, “In prayer it is better to have a heart without words than words without a heart.”
The Holy Spirit when we need Him the most, will breathe Himself into our thoughts and desires and causes the essence of our prayer to be right because it is He who prays both for us and in us. Prayer with the Holy Spirit’s help is an absolute miracle of life with the Lord.
