Daily devotion – Children of the Lord
Mat 19:14
But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
Had the opportunity to enjoy a couple of nights listening to the evening devotions of some of our grandkids. They read through a passage of the Bible to understand it and then they ask themselves questions about their walk with God. They are extremely honest and passionate about wanting to grow in their walk with the Lord.
So often people today consider having their kids in Church means colouring in or playing games. I think we often forget that they, no matter their age, are sincere followers of Christ who desire to grow just as we do.
Too often a Church Sunday school is treated as simply a baby-sitting time or a break for the parents from their kids. This is wrong! Children are not raised by the Church, they are raised by their parents. Church for a child should have the same goal as Church for an adult or teen.
That being to sit under God’s Word, to hear and obey the voice of God and to be actively a part of God’s body – His Church.
Let us not neglect the teaching and exhorting of our youngest saints.
