Daily devotion – missing Church

Pastor Keith   -

Act 2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Not being able to be in Church due to illness is not good. Yes, the ability to watch via our YouTube channel was excellent in its quality and clarity, but it is nothing like actually being there!

Both Helen and I really miss Church when we are unable to be there which over the years has only been on a few very rare occasions. For gathering with the body of Christ from the moment we gave our hearts to the Lord back in 1977, has been our way of life with nothing taking its place of importance.

As a Christian, Church is our home that God has placed us in to worship Him and serve Him until we get to live with Him in glory. It’s not just a once a week of an hour and a half ritual. It is being in the body of Christ – the vessel God has chosen to use as His channel to proclaim His love and to glorify His name.

In the early Church, when someone rebelled against God’s Word the Church would discipline them by disallowing them the privilege to gather with the Church until they had repented of their sin and then they were welcomed back into the fold. It was a great tragedy to not be able to be in fellowship.

We see Paul teaching this very thing in his letters to the Church at Corinth.

So, next Wednesday night and Sunday there will be two very excited believers gathering to worship God and fellowship with the rest of the body of Christ at Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour. That excitement of being able to go to Church after Helen and I were first saved has never and will never dissipate.

May we always acknowledge the privilege of being part of God’s family and gathering with it every opportunity god gives us!
