Daily devotion – RSVP!
Come to Me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest…Matthew 11:28
These words are so profound yet simple. They tell us something amazing about the Creator of Heaven and earth, the Holy God. They reveal His deep love and personal care for you and I, and all those who will accept His invitation.
Most of us have received invitations to attend certain events. The invite usually bearing the name of the person or persons asking you to come to their special time. But here we have in the Word of God, a personal invitation from the one true God Himself, the Holy One of Israel. It is He who invites you to come….notice, not to an event, or a ceremony, but to Him personally!
For this is His character – the Apostle John tells us that God is love – 1Jo 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
1Jo 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
This is Christ’s personal invitation for you to have a personal relationship with Him and in so doing you will be blessed beyond all you could imagine. He says that if we come to Him, He will personally give you rest!
Take a moment to read in the Old Testament what was required for the High Priest, on just one day of the year, to be able to enter the holiest of holies in the Temple.
But because of the Cross of Calvary, now you have been invited to come to Christ and know Him and be blessed by Him.
The Gospel is such good news and it’s far more than what many people imagine it to be. Today, have you accepted Christ’s invitation? Or does it lay discarded somewhere in your life, cast aside whilst you pursue your own selfish interests?
To refuse His invitation is one thing, but to not even consider it is another!
I pray that you have accepted this precious invite from the King of kings and Lord of lords. It surely must be the most wonderful invitation one could ever receive.
