Daily devotion – a most beautiful sound….
Jas 5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
You are all aware that we gather as the body of Christ each Wednesday for the critical ministry of corporate prayer. The prayers that have been written down on cards by people who call Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour home, are given to each person as they enter the Church on the Wednesday evening – to pray for the heartfelt needs and requests of the Church.
The other Wednesday evening someone prayed out loud for the unsaved loved one’s of Helen and my families. I listened carefully as each of their names were brought to the very throne of God for their salvation.
To hear another brother or sister in Christ pray for your unsaved loved one’s is one of the most touching and poignant things you could ever hear and receive this side of Heaven. That another Christian is interceding on behalf of your hearts desires is a demonstration of God’s love and power at work before you and in particular, for you to hear!
Cain you will remember in Genesis 4:9-10 was asked by God where his brother Abel was. Cain’s response was selfish, tragic and shameful…when he said, .... am I my brother’s keeper?
Our lives are not just to be lived for our own pleasure and will. But we are here to glorify and serve God with every breath of life He has given us.
When you pray one for another, when you pray for the loved one’s and situations of another brother or sister in Christ, you are reflecting the selfless life our Saviour demonstrated when He not only prayed for each of us – John 17 – but He then went on and gave His life for us!
I exhort you to step into a most powerful and privileged position – join us each Wednesday and pray for someone else’s family member to come to Christ. To speak their name before the throne and ears of God. Would you not want someone to do that for yours?
You are…….your bother and sisters keeper…..
