Daily devotion – Father’s Day 2022
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
Father’s Day 2022. A time to celebrate the dad’s and grandads of our lives. A time to buy gifts the same as this time last year. But spare a thought and your prayers for dad’s today.
Their title and their role has been cast aside in our modern ‘woke’ society. Deemed not needed, old fashioned and now the term father is no longer!
But I still never forget the first time in all the wedding paper legalities I have prepared over the years hearing from a bride to be when asked the name of her father, her response – “unknown”. It took me back for a moment for I had never heard anyone say that to me in previous wedding preparations before. So I wrote in the space, father of the bride – ‘unknown’.
It’s a space that sadly so many children of our time now will respond in a similar matter. For a multitude of reasons, all of which are those of heartache, sadness and fracture.
How does one deal with Father’s Day 2022 if you are such a child. Not knowing who your father is, or having sad and sorrowful memories of a brake up within your parents marriage. Our world is truly a fallen world. But there is hope for such sons and daughters, for all of us in fact. For God knew the fallout, the heartache and the sorrow that would follow Adam and Eve’s rebellion. So God the Father sent His Son Jesus Christ into a broken world to bring love, mercy, comfort and forgiveness to all who are hurting and lost.
Isa 9:6
For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah tells us a Son was given. That is that God the Father gave His Son Jesus Christ to heal and save those who are lost and broken in a fallen world.
This Father’s Day 2022, no matter your background, your past situation. Whether it be one who is qualified to write in that space – father – unknown. God the Father in Heaven wants you to know He is your Father and He loves you and desires to protect you and raise you as His own child.
Rom 8:15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”
Everyone who receives the gift of His Son Jesus Christ into their lives automatically has the love and comfort of their Heavenly Father. So many people today simply stay lost and hurt in what has happened to them because of their earthly father or lack of.
But this need not be – today will you end the life of being fatherless, of being alone and turn your heart to Heaven, to your Heavenly Father because to show you how much He loves you – He gave His only Son Jesus……for you!
Isaiah also tells us that as our Heavenly Father He will never leave you because He is your EVERLASTING FATHER.
Let us pray for all the dads and grandads this coming Sunday. Let us thank our Heavenly Father for His love, comfort and grace. Let us rest in His arms continually, for there you will always be safe.
