Daily devotion – knowing and believing
1 John 2:3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
Many people in Australia consider themselves as ‘spiritual’. Which means really nothing at all in reality!
Such people when questioned will say, “Well, I do love God and follow Him.” But one needs to be sure by putting such a statement to the test. Do you prove your love to God when you slander someone? Do you show your live to Him when you cheat or lie or go against His commands?
The Bible says, “Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, “I know Him”, and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” – 1 John 2:3-4
Can you imagine living in disobedience while claiming the Holy Spirit s guiding you? If you do so without conviction and repentance you do not love Jesus – because Jesus said His Spirit would convict of sin.
One of the saddest statements in the Bible is when Jesus said, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven….Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not…done many wonders in Your name?” And then I will declare to them, “I never knew you; depart from me, you who practice ; lawlessness!” – Matthew 7:21-23
The Lord will not acknowledge what man claims to believe but what he actually believes and puts into action.
Choose this day the road to travel into eternity. Don’t think there are three choices – yes, no, and wait – for you may never have another opportunity. The Bible is the book of two pathways. But only one leads to life eternal!
You may think you are on the right road. You have to know what you believe and why you believe it before you can know where you are going!
What must you do? Yield your life to Jesus Christ by faith in Him and then the Holy Spirit of God and the Word of God will lead you and guide you as you walk the right path of salvation.
