Daily devotion – living in the Spirit
Acts 10:44 – 45 44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. 45 And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also.
We find ourselves again at the beautiful location of Caesarea with the passage we open with today. When did the Spirit of God move in this amazing gathering with Peter and Cornelius and many other gentiles in Caesarea? When Peter spoke the Word of God!
The Biblical pattern is that of the Holy Spirit moving through the teaching of the Word.
Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
The results of “letting the Word of Christ dwell in you richly” is the same as Paul writes in Ephesians 5 “Be not drunk with wine but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to each other with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord…”
The Word of God and the Spirit of God are intimately linked together. If you want to live in the Spirit, keep yourself in the Word of God. Become totally saturated with it and you will find yourself overflowing with the Spirit!
