From the Pastor’s Desk –
Recent events in the media have brought about a greater focus on all those who profess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. How we handle such storms is important especially when they home in on our faith. But there is a blessing also hidden under any persecution on the Church of Jesus Christ. Firstly, God is aware of them and is allowing the speed bump in the lives of people of faith. More importantly however is that during such attacks or pressure on Christians, the very storm or turmoil drives true believers to their knees in prayer! This is how the Church grows strong. This is when the Church resembles what Christ intended it to be in the first place! Perhaps in your own life something has erupted in it concerning your walk of faith and relationship with Jesus Christ. God does not allow such storms to be wasted. He allows them to make us stronger, more dependent on Him, hungrier for His Word and direction and lastly it refines us so that all that is worldly things in our lives are cut away. 1 Peter3:14 But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.” 15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;
Helen’s Heart Pro 20:5 A plan in the heart of man is like deep water, But a man of understanding will draw it out.
As a parent a most important role is to ‘draw out’ from our children their potential. We are in a unique position to see glimpses of their gifting God has placed in them. So, if you see that athleticism, intellectual ability, artistic flair, caring concern; tell him or her. Then invest time to channel those interests and draw out the plan God has for them.
