From the Pastor’s Desk – O Little town of Bethlehem…On our first visits to Israel, we used to include a visit to Bethlehem. It meant changing tour guides and buses before entering the west bank section of Israel which at times was considered unsafe. We no longer include Bethlehem in our tours. But don’t be disappointed, because I think you would be more disappointed if we still included it in our tours. There is of course the usual Church built over the location deemed to be the site of Jesus birth. The Church is divided between 3 traditional religious groups and with some of the paraphernalia hanging up in the Church, it just reminded me of a garage sale scene. To see the location or cave believed to be Jesus ‘stable’ and birthplace you must go down some steep little steps which brings you to this very ordinary looking cave. That’s the highlight of the visit. Bethlehem is still just a backwater location with a poor socio-economic character. I think it continues to fit the Lord’s perfect birth site. No glitter, no beautiful surroundings, just a plain old cave in an out of the way unimportant location. But it was in this very place that the King of kings and Lord of lords arrived in the form of an infant – God became a man born of a virgin. Yet I am still moved often to tears at this, His arrival. Not by the location of Bethlehem but by the heart of God the Father who placed His only Son in our poor fallen poor dark world, to save our souls. He made sure we could offer no excuses of Jesus background and wealth to keep us away from Him. His birth in Bethlehem is a story within a story! Jesus birth never disappoints me and Jesus too never disappoints me!

Helen’s Heart I would have you without carefulness. Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God – Phil 4:6 Worry and fear can grip us and cause us to panic. We fear the future, our overwhelming problems, declining health, financial ruin. We should fear God the most as this is the beginning of wisdom and the answer for any fear or concern, we have. Remember – neither death nor life…neither the present of the future…nor anything else…will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord – Romans 8:39

Grace Giving – We have a container at the left rear of the chapel for your grace-giving, or you can give electronically via the following information. CCSH Account number: 2490144 & BSB: 306089. Deu 14:22“You must set aside a tithe of your crops—one-tenth of all the crops you harvest each year.Deu 14:23 Bring this tithe to the designated place of worship—the place the LORD your God chooses for his name to be honored—and eat it there in his presence. This applies to your tithes of grain, new wine, olive oil, and the firstborn males of your flocks and herds. Doing this will teach you always to fear the LORD your God.
