Daily devotion – a load we are not expected to carry

Pastor Keith   -

John 6: 70 Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?” 71 He spoke of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, for it was he who would betray Him, being one of the twelve.

The guilt that we often live with is that of failing to win others to Christ. Yet as we read John’s Gospel, we see that each and every individual that sat under the teaching of Jesus had an individual response according to the leaning of his or her heart.

I used to worry and may be you still do, that if my sharing of God’s Word was not clear and compelling, a soul might be lost…..because of my failure!

What an unbelievable pressure for a mere mortal! Thankfully, this is not the case after all. Another person’s soul is not yours or mine to win or lose. We have been charged with the responsibility to tell the “good news” to proclaim and be part of the Great Commission – yes indeed!

But we are to do this to the best we can but an individual’s response to our sharing is a private matter with God.

Only the two of them know for sure whether it is authentic or mere pretence.

Let us share the good news of Christ this week, yes with a burden for the lost, but not with a load we are not designed or expected to carry.

Let us leave the saving to Him who can save – our Lord Jesus Christ.
