Daily devotion – feelings…or truth
Heb 10:22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
We live in a world that lives by feelings. Nike, the sports company, even made such a statement as the lead for identifying with their brand – “If it feels good, do it!”
But such a shallow lifestyle is dangerous, foolish and above all selfish. Can you imagine how many kids would not attend school if they only went when they felt like it? Or people going to work only if they felt like working that day. Such shallow reasoning has bled into peoples most critical relationships.
People leave their spouse because they feel they don’t love them anymore. People abort little babies because they don’t feel like having a child at that time. Parents bail on their children because they don’t feel like being responsible for them anymore.
Disregard your feelings when you come to Christ. You are not saved by your feelings; you are saved by Christ. Feelings come and go, but Christ remains!
Only the facts matter – the fact that Jesus Christ died for your sins and rose again; the fact that if you have committed your life to Him, He has promised to forgive you and save you. The Bible says, “God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life.” – 1 John 5:11-12
This is God’s promise to you – and He cannot lie. Your feelings will lie to you – and Satan may even use them to convince you God has abandoned you or that you have lost your salvation. But remember: John 8:44 there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
How wonderful to know our faith is based on God’s truth and not our feelings!
