Daily devotion – in His arms…
Luk 15:13 “And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living.
The story of the Prodigal son found in Luke’s gospel is one of my favourite passages that I love to read over and over. Most people know the story, and many relate to the story personally. Quickly, it’s the story of a wasteful selfish young man, thinking only about himself to the great detriment to his loving father and family living on the family farm.
He arrogantly seeks his inheritance before his father has passed from this life and his dad gives it to him. The young man then sets off and wastes every cent of it until it is all gone on wild living. Finally, the young man comes to his senses and returns home only to be completely forgiven by his father and welcomed back with blessing into the family once more.
There are times in our lives, sometimes due to our own foolishness, and other times due to no fault of our own at all, that we end up with heartache, loneliness, sorrow and pain.
But the wonderful story and truth of the God of the Bible, seen in the character of the prodigal’s father, is that when we find ourselves in such a pit of despair. We too can come to our Heavenly Father and have the comfort of His loving arms wrap around us in our greatest time of need. He is always there waiting!
Maybe this week you find yourself in a state like the prodigal son for whatever reason – remember to come home because there is a loving Father there looking for you to welcome you. In addition, our Father is filled with greater joy and happiness that even we who are in need.
This is the truth of the matter – God loves you and He misses you when you are away from Him. Come to Him now in your time of need and find rest in His arms today!
Luk 15:20 “And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him
