Daily devotion – Its not only good news its great news

Pastor Keith   -

Mat 6:21 “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

It is one of the hardest truths for some people to fathom, that there is absolutely nothing they can do to win their salvation.

It matters not….how generous, how honest, how compassionate you are – it is never enough! God is holy and His standard is perfection. If we think we are good enough, it simply proves our very own pride.

It is only when we see ourselves as God sees us – sinners guilty before Him – just as Isaiah did….Isa 6:5 So I said: “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King,
The LORD of hosts.”

Only then like Isaiah, will we realize our need of a Saviour. C.H.Spurgeon said, “The first link between my soul and Jesus Christ is not my goodness but my badness, not my merit but my misery, not my riches but my need.”

But the amazing thing in all of this is – in spite of our sin, God still loves us! He love us so much that Jesus Christ His only begotten Son, died on the Cross at Calvary for us. All we can do is believe and receive – believe Jesus died for us and by faith receive Him into our lives.

No, you can’t win your salvation, you cannot earn it. But the good news (the Gospel) is Jesus Christ has won it for you!
