Daily devotion – the journey of life

Pastor Keith   -

Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Life is given to us by God, His very breath making us into a living soul. Then from birth we each travel a path, different to each other, with its joys, victories, sorrows, troubles and heartaches.

Life is very fragile – James 4: 13 Look here, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit.” 14 How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. 15 What you ought to say is, “If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.”

But when one receives Christ as Lord and Saviour, your life takes on a whole new meaning!

You realize now that your life is ETERNAL…and what awaits us can only be described as Heaven. But in the meantime, whilst we are here on this planet, living in these earthly bodies, there is another great joy that we can experience new every day.

That knowing and enjoying that God is with us, that we walk together on this journey that He has started us on. A journey that will lead us soon to see face to face the Son of God Jesus Christ. To be able to look into His eyes and to be able to be held by Him and hear His audible voice….forever.

This is Heaven and this is where we are heading. With that thought each day, it makes me long and yearn for His coming. It makes the struggles and battles that I face today, a small step in what is an eternal road to a blessed destination.

In the meantime, let us encourage each other to not miss out on the opportunity to fellowship with each other, to gather together as His Church.

Heb 10:25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
