Daily devotion – a busy Christmas

Pastor Keith   -

Luke 2:1 And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. 2 This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria. 3 So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city.

The birth of the King of kings is near, the first Christmas is about to occur, and the world continues on its busy way with taxes and a census.

Christmas is always an interesting time of the year. It’s the celebration of the child born of a virgin who is the Son of God – God incarnate! Meanwhile work continues up to Christmas Eve, many people now because of shift work will be at work Christmas Day.

Many families are on the move, travelling great distances to re-connect with relatives in other lands and places. For some, there is preparing for a stay in hospital. For others, it’s preparing for the first Christmas without a loved one for the first time.

Our world is ever moving, ever chaotic, ever presenting hurdles and new issues to face.

Christmas 2022 is a daunting shadow for some approaching as they again will experience it alone.

We hear tragically of the killing of two young police officers who were simply going about their duty but were ambushed. Now a surge of grieving, heartache and suffering for their families and fellow officers.

We need Christmas now more than ever! We need the God of all comfort now like never before. We each need a Saviour to set us free from the stupid things we have done and said. We need someone who will remove us from our prisons of loneliness, our chains of oppression…..

And He came….an innocent Child, the Creator of the Universe wrapped in swaddling clothes…He came to bring us the love of God without any restraint…all of it….all of Him!

Yes Christmas is here, and it reminds us that Jesus is here!

Jesus Christ came into this world for you..for your marriage…for your family…for you to be able to rise above all that this world may bring before us.

Jesus said, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me! – John 14:1

Troubles will come, storms will rage, but He will bring us to safe shores because He is and always will be on the throne, ruling over all that there is, and every knee will bow and every tongue will confess Jesus is Lord!
