Daily devotion – Jesus died for Me!

Pastor Keith   -

1Co 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

David Brainard, the famous missionary to the American Indians, proclaimed this truth throughout his ministry. He said, “I never got away from Jesus and Him crucified in my preaching. I found that once these people were gripped by the great evangelical meaning of Christ’s sacrifice on our behalf. I did not have to give them many instructions about changing their behaviour.”

When the great preacher, Charles Haddon Spurgeon lay on his death bed, he testified to a friend, “My theology now is found in four little words: ‘JESUS died for ME.’ I don’t say this is all I would preach if I were to be raised up again, but it is more than enough for me to die upon.”

2023, the coming New Year, this blessed Gospel message is just as powerful and needed as it was when Christ rose from the grave that first Sunday morning over 2,000 years ago.

When you call a person a minimalist, you’re describing their interest in keeping things very simple. A minimalist prefers the minimal amount or degree of something. In art history, the minimalists were artists whose work involved extremely simple gestures and ideas.

Let’s head into this New Year as minimalists in our proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Often the most important part of our reaching the lost is not so much a litany of words but simply the courage and passion to open our mouths to share the Gospel.

Let us speak the good news and let us proclaim as both Dr Brainard and Charles Spurgeon – JESUS died for ME!
