Daily devotion – ready to forgive

Pastor Keith   -

Psa 86:5 For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You.

Disciplining your child is what a loving parent does. But we all know just how difficult it is and how after, even though the actions you undertook to admonish your child were correct, leaves one as a parent often struggling.

No one enjoys having to reprimand your child but that is what we are to do as parents. The book of proverbs is loaded with wisdom and instruction how to raise our children.

Proverbs 13:24 Those who spare the rod of discipline hate their children. Those who love their children care enough to discipline them.

Pro 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.

The Bible also tells us that God as our loving Father demonstrates His loves for us by chastening us when we need it!
Deu 8:5 “You should know in your heart that as a man chastens his son, so the LORD your God chastens you.
Heb 12:6 For whom the LORD loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.

But the beauty of chastening our children is that when all is done, we are ready also to lovingly forgive them as our Heavenly Father is very ready to forgive us.

This is where love grows strong and matures with beautiful respect.

David based this plea on the graciousness of God, knowing that He is good and ready to forgive. Far too many people who should know better doubt both the goodness of God and His readiness to forgive.

What a beautiful thing it is to receive forgiveness, it gladdens our hearts and rejoices our spirit.

God loves to forgive us because He loves us so much.
