Daily devotion – Home in our hearts
Philippians 3:20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ
I think about Heaven a lot! I have never been there, I have never seen it, but it is my home, and I belong there.
Heaven is where I am headed in my life’s journey that God has set me on. There are people besides my Saviour, that I know and I am related to, that are already in Heaven, that I will see again.
Driving with Helen today we were talking about Heaven together. I know that Helen is heading there too in God’s time. She is so looking forward to the rapture as Paul wrote in 1 Thessalonians 4.
Heaven is where we will finally and truly rest. We will rest because we will be home, where we have longed for and travelled for so many years to get to. Our journey will be one in which we will have endured many difficulties. This will make Heaven all the more so wonderful when we finally arrive.
Do you know the thoughts that Helen and I have about Heaven are the very same thoughts that a man called Abraham; the father of our faith had many many years ago.
Hebrews 11: 8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. 9 By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; 10 for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
In every believer God has placed this same desire and longing…how about you today?
Jesus told us Mat 6:21 “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Life is this amazing journey home….and our part is to try and take as many people as possible with us….home!
