Daily devotion – ignorant or mature

Pastor Keith   -

Rom 1:17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.

The Bible does not teach us that the just shall live by feelings. This is a matter we all should know. However, Paul is not saying that our walk or relationship with God should be one that is lacking in emotion.

How sad it is when a marriage or a parent child relationship is void of emotion!

The subject matter that is the context of Paul’s statement is that of our salvation. We are not saved by how we feel. We are saved by the precious sacrifice of Jesus for our sins! God giving us grace when we do not deserve it.

Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

But God also does not want us to just ‘feel’ His presence with us. In our new relationship by faith and God’s grace, God now desires to allow us to be changed by Him. He wants to remove our self-centeredness and make us more like Him.

He wants to teach us by His Holy Spirit and help us to become His servants.

But how does this happen in our lives? How does God change us into the person He has planned and desires us to be?

Again and again, I find myself speaking to people about their relationship with God and I discover they do not read the Bible. They do not consider it necessary for whatever excuse they raise and I have heard many.

God mainly changes us through His Word – 2 Tim 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

As you read and listen to the truth of God’s Word, God will change your life to be like His.

Stop today all the excuses as to why you have not or do not read the Bible. If you are serious in having a relationship with Jesus Christ, be serious about His Word written for you.

Change from being a shallow, weak, immature follower of God and grow up in your relationship by being in God’s precious Word. Don’t put this off anymore.
