Daily devotion – Jesus walked this way
“The Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kindly to every one.” – 2 Tim 2:24
In Matthew 11, we are told by Jesus Himself of His innermost character – Mat 11:29 “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
He is gentle…..when Jesus came into this fallen world, there were very few hospitals, minimal places of refuge for the poor, nil homes for orphans…..
Jesus Christ’s coming change all that. He healed the sick, fed the hungry, and He opened the eyes of the blind. He commanded His followers, His disciples, “Love your neighbour as yourself.” Matthew 19:19, and taught them to observe what many people call the golden rule – “In everything, do to others what you would have them do to you.” – Matthew 7:12
Jesus and His followers blazed a clear path for us to follow. Wherever real Christians are found, so too are acts of kindness, love and gentleness.
Today and tomorrow you and I have a chance to follow in our Lord’s footsteps. To walk where He has walked. To leave an impression that tells people, “Jesus was here!”
