Daily devotion – lost and found

Pastor Keith   -

Luke 19:10 “for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

I lost my keys yesterday which changed my morning into a giant search program. Praying throughout my backtracking my footsteps, making phone calls, and checking physically all the locations I had visited only to come up with a negative result.

The whole focus changed the planned events and set aside all other matters. I was extremely diligent in taking all steps to try and locate the missing keys.

This search process reminded me of Christ setting aside all other things to seek us out, to save us who were lost. To find us and bring us home safely. I am continually reminded of how personal Jesus takes all matters of our lives into His hands. We are not a number, nor are we a bunch, but we are His sheep, and He calls each of us by our name.

Salvation is a most wondrous event!

I eventually located the lost keys, and it is amazing the joy one experiences when recovering something we have lost. Everything seems to drop back into place, the mission is over when that which was lost is now found!

You and I bring Christ joy when we are found, when our wandering is over, and we are in our Shepherds safe hands for evermore.

As you read Psalm 23, we find as His once lost sheep now found and, in His care, we no longer fear evil because He is constantly with us.

His corrective rod and guiding staff comfort us.

But the most important part of Dr Luke’s verse has to be the words, “The Son of Man has to seek…” Jesus came after us. He could have ignored us, left us to our own mess. But instead, He sought us out and saved us.

This is the God of the Bible who loves you so much that He gave His only begotten Son to die in your place.
