Daily devotion – passions
Mat 10:33 “But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.
Read a great quote today – “If Christianity is important at all, then it’s all important. If it is anything at all, then it is everything. It is either the most vital thing in your life, or it is not worth bothering with.”
We live in a society that is casual in important matters that demand disciplined and dedicated response. Things such as marriage vows and working daily on our marriage relationship. Relationships with our children or family. They are treated so shabbily today and even sometimes completely cast aside.
Guarantees, as they say, “not worth the paper they are written on.”
People are on the other hand today are seen to be consumed with passion for the things they are into at the time!
Fitness gyms, people are ‘religious’ in their dedication to such. Or, food intake, living to strict dietary boundaries. Can’t go without our morning coffee – which still bewilders me even though I enjoy coffee, in a country where tea was an integral part of our identity.
This self-indulgent and yet casual lifestyle has oozed into Church as if my osmosis.
Taking a step back from all these things from a more advantageous viewpoint, we then wonder why our lives are so brittle, especially in relationships.
More care is taken in our fitness, our diet, our hobby than our relationship with our husband, wife, son or daughter!
So too, this is seen in the modern Churches casual approach to its relationship with its Creator – the Lord God Almighty.
You can get a man early to the beach or to the golf course or a woman to the gym, but to prayer, reading our Bible…
Why is this the case?
We live in such a blessed nation with food, water and shelter and so much more.
But transport yourself to Ukraine, to freezing conditions, no power, missiles landing, the male members of your family away fighting for your family’s freedom, your passions change dramatically as too your relationship with God!
We need to be so careful not to drift into 2023 with a casual approach to God – it cannot be!
God does not consider such as a relationship at all!
Either you are for Him or you are against Him – there is no casual part time relationship allowed. Friends, we are on the verge of events that will change this world like it has never experienced before.
Check your walk with God. There is no grey area. You are either for Him or you are against Him. No one would like to meet the Lord on that fateful day and be thinking all is ok, when Christ will say, “I never knew you!”
Today, make your heart right with God, head into the New Year by fulfilling the first commandment in how you live.
Deu 6:5 “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
