Daily devotion – The wonder of the Holy Spirit in our lives

Pastor Keith   -

“But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me.” John 15:26

The Bible teaches us that the Holy Spirit, the third part of the triune God, is equal with the Son and with the Father in every aspect!

Whilst the doctrine of the trinity is difficult to understand, the Bible tells us that He, the Holy Spirit, is co-equal with God the Son.

The Bible also teaches that the Holy Spirit is a Person. He is never to be referred to as “it.” He is not an impersonal power or force, as taught by the cults who also deny that Jesus Christ is God in the flesh. However, nor is the Holy Spirit just a divine influence or agent.

He is a mighty Person, the Holy Spirit of God.

The Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit too is omnipotent. That means He has all power. It tells us also that He is omnipresent. That means He is everywhere at the same time!

Going into 2023 what does that mean for you and I?

The 17th Century Anglican Bishop, Jeremy Taylor, put it like this, “It is impossible for that man (or woman) to despair who remembers that His Helper is omnipresent!”

We head into 2023 with the Holy Spirit’s power, His presence and His love with us always wherever the year may lead us – it’s wonderful and so comforting is it not?
