From the Pastor’s Desk. Jhn 17:14 “I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.” It is the Word of God which causes the great division between the Church and the world. The Bible draws a battle line between those who heed the Word of God and those who hate the Lord and “His own”. The word hate here is the Greek word MISEO and it means to hate, to detest with intense emotion. It describes here in John’s Gospel one’s choice to give priority to one thing over another. Jhn 12:25 “He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.” John is describing the dualistic, sharp division, between good and evil. You will remember when God created the world, He said it was good. Then sin entered through Adam and Eve’s deliberate disobedience. Now the fallen world operates according to Satan’s values. As we draw closer to the Rapture and the Great Tribulation, this great division spoken of by John will become much clearer. People, who love the world, but currently attend Church will fall away and not return. 1Jo 2:19 “They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.” Let us who have received the grace and forgiveness of God make sure we are on the right side of the division!
Helen’s Heart 28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” We can work hard at fixing a problem and it can all end in disappointment, disillusionment, and exhaustion. It can be tempting to give up, quit. Churchill said, “Wars are not won by evacuations.” To quit, escape, to hide solves nothing. God has offered a wonderful trade…His yoke which is easy in exchange for our heavy load. Turn to Him and REST in Him.

Deu 14:22“You must set aside a tithe of your crops—one-tenth of all the crops you harvest each year.Deu 14:23 Bring this tithe to the designated place of worship—the place the LORD your God chooses for his name to be honored—and eat it there in his presence. This applies to your tithes of grain, new wine, olive oil, and the firstborn males of your flocks and herds. Doing this will teach you always to fear the LORD your God.
