Daily devotion – failure is not something we want to repeat.
Act 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
I know how to be ineffective for God. I learnt this lesson the hard way when in my zeal I tried to do so many things for the Lord. Things that I thought would work or be a good idea. But unless the Lord builds the house……it comes to nothing.
Jesus warned His disciples to not attempt to do His work without the power of the Holy Spirit being with them. It was the only way for them to be effective witnesses for Him!
The touch of God makes the difference between success and failure. God touched Isaiah’s lips to give him purity in Isaiah chapter 6: 1-7.
God touched Jeremiah’s lips to give him power – Jeremiah 1:9-19.
God touched Jacob’s hip and gave Jacob a limp – Genesis 32:25 – but this in turn helped him become a “prince with God” – Israel!
God touched Daniel and set him back on his feet – Daniel 8:18, gave him strength – Daniel 10:18 – and opened his mouth for ministry – Daniel 10:15-16.
The call of God and the touch of God must go together, or we fail.
In times past I have failed, and I never want to walk that road again!
