Daily devotion – Perspective (Godly)
Daniel 2 ¶Now in the second year of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams; and his spirit was so troubled that his sleep left him.
Nebuchadnezzar was the world’s most powerful ruler at the time. He could conquer empires, but he could not conquer his own anger nor understand the dreams God had sent him.
Dan 2:12 For this reason the king was angry and very furious and gave the command to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.
He understood how to defeat the enemy, but he could not understand the message of God. Whilst young Daniel had patience and self-control and could explain the mysteries of God.
A pure heart is better than all the power of the world and all its riches.
Daniel and his three friends knew the “God of Heaven” who is merciful – Dan 2:18 that they might seek mercies from the God of heaven concerning this secret, so that Daniel and his companions might not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.
The God of Heaven answers prayer and reveals His secrets to those who love Him.
Because these four young Hebrew teenagers, Daniel, Hannaniah, Mishael and Azariah, could come to God’s throne, they had no fear of Nebuchadnezzar’s throne.
May we this week have but one fear in our lives only – that being the fear (awe) of the Lord God Almighty Creator of Heaven and earth. Let us not be fearful of anything else as we know that God is in absolute control.
When Daniel explained the dream to the king, Daniel gave all the glory to God.
He also saved the lives of the king’s wise men when he could have exposed them for frauds.
We must be forgiving to our enemy – after all, our hearts desire is to win them to the Savior!
