Daily devotion – soon!
Mat 16:13 When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?”
Caesarea Philippi is the northern most point of our tour in Israel. On the border of Libya, with Syria a little further off. It was at this location that Jesus after asking His disciples this pointed question, then journeyed to Jerusalem and His death on the Cross at Calvary.
We are nearing the end of Summer and soon Autumn will be upon us. Our minds now are beginning to shift toward Easter – this year falling on April 7. But in reality, our thoughts are never really far from Calvary, His Cross, His Resurrection. I love reading over and over the story of Christ especially as He neared the ‘hour’ for which He came – Mar 2:17 When Jesus heard it, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”
How amazing that the Creator of the universe should go to such extents as to see us know Him and be saved by Him. I love the passion of Jesus love for us. It is spoken of many times in the Bible, and I think that at times we pass over His amazing love for us without stopping to give its meaning and power time to truly resonate with us personally.
Jhn 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Jhn 3:17 “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
It’s Wednesday morning as I write this and tonight we as His Church will gather to pray. I look forward to this night each week as it is not just a night of prayer, but it is a reflection of our love for Him as well. We just love gathering in His name. To be able to pray before Him with other believers. The privilege He has given to each of us to be able to meet together to honour, worship, and sit in His presence.
Its a night of relationship, of being where He desires us to be.
It’s another day closer to His return. Another day closer for us being in His presence where we will see Him face to face. Yes the seasons come and go, but so too do the days that stand between our being with Him in glory.
It has been said that we are to live our lives as if Christ had been crucified yesterday, resurrected today, and is coming back tomorrow!
How great is God’s love for us!
