Daily devotion – a prayer to be gentle

Pastor Keith   -

Daniel 2:12 For this reason the king was angry and very furious, and gave the command to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.

In Daniel chapter 2 we find the most powerful man in the world at that time, king Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, a man who could conquer empires, but could not restrain his own anger.

Pro 16:32 He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, And he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.

Nebuchadnezzar understood how to defeat his enemies, but he could not understand the message of God.

However, young Daniel had patience and self-control in the face of death and could also explain the mysteries of God.

The Bible tells us a pure heart is better than a powerful throne.

How can we learn to control anger that leads to sin?

Surrender yourself each day to the Holy Spirit: “Live by the Spirit, and you will NOT gratify the desires of the sinful nature.” – Galatians 5:16

Let the Word of God permeate your life as you read it carefully, study it and memorize it. “Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom.” – Colossians 3:16

Remember a gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” Proverbs 15:1

Today make your attitudes and responses a matter for serious prayer.

Regularly confess excessive anger as sin – “Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry.” – Ephesians 4:26

Ask God to help you.
