Daily devotion – early morning
Psalm 5: 1 Give ear to my words, O LORD,
Consider my meditation.
2 Give heed to the voice of my cry,
My King and my God,
For to You I will pray.
3 My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD;
In the morning I will direct it to You,
And I will look up.
This week’s heatwave makes the early mornings even more wonderful and peaceful. Before the sun has its full force and the wind feels like a fan forced oven, we can in the still of the early morning enjoy that special fellowship and time with our Lord.
There is nothing like getting everything in order before you start something. To have all that you need laid out to begin a project. Each day for a follower of Christ, God invites us to meet with Him. To be comforted over recent troubles, to be forgiven for our most recent failings, and to be encouraged once again to walk in this new day before Him in hope.
David wrote this song, this psalm, and I am sure his mind was taken back to the many early mornings out in the fields waking up with the sheep already feeding and quietly going about their business as he spoke to the Lord first light.
David had things in order right from the beginning of each day with his morning devotion with the Lord.
If only more people would follow this simple example, their lives would be less chaotic, filled with less anxiety and they would be able to walk in the wisdom and the leading of the Lord.
Set your alarm early tomorrow to meet with the Lord – He will be waiting!
