Mat 6:19 “Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal.
Mat 6:20 Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.”
In this life, we can lose many things. We can lose our health, we can lose a relationship, we can lose a loved one, we can lose our job, we can lose our home…..the list is really endless.
Many people live in darkness now having lost some of those things we have mentioned. It’s as if the sun has gone down in their lives never to rise again.
But, the most wonderful gift we have ever been given, the most wonderful relationship we have ever been involved in, this cannot be lost, it cannot be taken and it cannot be destroyed.
There is nothing and no one powerful enough, strong enough to take this one majestic thing away from us.
Romans 8: 35 Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? 36 (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Is this not marvellous – we have our relationship with the Lord God Almighty through His Son Jesus Christ, and nothing can ever change or steal that away from us! Nothing!
The next time I sense some loss, some grief, some poverty, some illness, my thoughts will shift to these words of Paul. That the treasure God has given me by saving my soul is eternal.
This is what makes the Christian able to lift his or her head after the enemy has done his best, after the world has cast us aside….. Sng 2:16 My beloved is mine, and I am His…
Sng 2:4 ..He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.
This is why the writer of Hebrews could say…. Heb 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
