Daily devotion – 4 seasons

Pastor Keith   -

Gen 8:22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

As I write this devotion, the sound of rain and wind are noticeable as we have our first ‘autumn’ front bringing the weather over the southwest of Western Australia. Since I became a Christian, my eyes have been majestically opened to God’s absolute control over things and the very detail that reveals to us His design, and creation at work.

Previously the 4 seasons were just 4 seasons and I saw nothing else in them. But now I see the hand of God controlling and changing, putting everything in its places at the right time.

We do not live in a chaotic world as such but we live in a world designed beautifully by the Creator!

This brings great peace to my heart, as I see the summer just as usual click over into autumn, it speaks to me of God’s sovereignty beautifully.

We see the hand of God in the change of seasons!

The Bible declares “The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork.” Psalm 19:1.

The Apostle Paul wrote to the Church in Rome that no one will have an excuse for not having enough information to be judged truly before God when we pass from this world – Rom 1:20 “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,”

The wonder of God’s creation only became real to me when I received Christ as my Lord and Saviour and the Holy Spirit took up residency within me.

The scales fell off my eyes and now I see God’s glory wherever I look. It is amazing to see God’s fingerprints and His design even as I look at into our simple garden or sit in my study listening to the season of autumn tell me God has sent it along!
