Daily devotion – attached to what!

Pastor Keith   -

2 Thess 2:1 Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, 2 not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. 3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first…

As we each day grow closer to Christ’s return for His Church – the rapture – 1 Thess 4: – we see Paul’s words ringing true for today.

In the Last Days leading up to theses prophetic events, we see people turning away from God’s truth and giving themselves over to the morals, philosophies and religion of the world. A Christless Church where the Bible is not taught and where it has been cast aside with the belief that it is old fashioned and not relevant for the living of the modern man.

This is so true in these Last Days because as people shun the truth and authority of the Word of God, they will make themselves susceptible to the deception of the coming new one world religion and the worship of the Antichrist.

Paul picks up this detail a little later in this passage as he is writing to warn the Church in Thessalonica whose faith was being tested.

9. The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

This is why I always begin each message with the words, “Let’s open our Bibles to….”

I love it in Churches where before the Pastor preaches, he will hold up his Bible and ask others in the fellowship to do so – it’s a proclamation that the Word of God is the authority in the Church of Jesus Christ and not man’s wisdom.

I find myself more and more reading and reading the Word of God – it’s a constant – and I am continually guided and spoken to by God through it, keeping my eyes fixed on the great prize at the end of the race of my life.

Phl 3:14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

As people are glued to their mobile phones, may we as disciples of Christ be more  attached and attentive to the Word of God being in our hands!
