Daily devotion – green pastures
Mark 16: 14 Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen. 15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
As we drove back through the Great Southern, I noticed there were some farms that had green pastures and some that were dry and barren. The rain does not fall evenly across every farm and our lives can be like that as well at times. We can be a rushing stream of God’s grace and power, whereby we can share the goodness of God with people who are thirsting for life but have not known how to go to the River of Life that is found in Jesus Christ.
But also we can be dry and barren with very little in our lives that we can bring to refresh others.
But one of the greatest keys to not being barren and to always have the grace and love of God to share, is to actually live your life by ‘sharing the Gospel’ in the truest sense.
Many people can sit in Church, can read their Bible, yet be as dry as the Dead Sea! Just like the Dead Sea they have no real outlet to the things that God has revealed to them and given to them to share with joy to others! They are full of salt yes but its doing no one any good.
When was the last real time you shared a passage of the Bible, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, or prayed with someone whose life needed a shower of hope from heaven?
This week, set yourself a task to share the Gospel, that is the story of Jesus death and Resurrection, with another soul who has never heard the message.
You can be God’s showers of refreshment that can sweep over someone’s life and change it from a barren pasture to a lush meadow!
Be a life giving cloud, an invigorating blessing, that will bring life and hope to what was once barren and dry.
