Daily devotion – solid ground

Pastor Keith   -

Luke 6:47 Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: 48 He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. 49 But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great.”

Have you ever played building blocks with the little ones.? How easy they fall down when you try and stack them on a small foundation…like one block!

Somehow, the Church today has the same number of divorces and family breakdowns as those outside the Church.

This trend of collapsing families, of increased heartache and human wreckage in our homes continues to grow.

Jesus tells the story of two men, each who were building houses of a very similar size and design. Almost identical! But, one built his house on a solid rock foundation – and when the storms came, his house stood.

The other man built his house on sand – and when the storms came, his house and everything in it collapsed and fell.

Many people today live in homes built on sand. Lacking the right foundation, their family is in trouble. What about your home, your family? When the flood of sorrows, the waves of temptation, and the storms of adversity come, will your home, will your family stand?

There is only one foundation that will keep your marriage, your family, your home, to be one that can stand each of the storms of life.

Make Jesus Christ the foundation of your home – and your life!

Speak to Him first thing when you wake up.

Acknowledge Him when you gather to eat and give thanks.

Set apart times through the week for you as a family to study His Word together, give Him and His Word prominence in every discussion.

Take every family decision to Him to make the final ruling on.

Thank Him personally each night before you sleep.

That’s a home built on a solid foundation.
