Daily devotion – surrender
Whoever loses his life for MY sake…will save it. – Mark 8:35
People are often looking for the short cut, the get rich quick deal, the answers before the test instead of studying weeks and hours prior to be prepared.
For victorious Christian living there is no magic formula. But if one word could describe it, it would be surrender!
How you ask does one surrender their life? It is surrendered in the same way salvation comes to the sinner. There needs to be confession of sin and a complete yielding of every area of our lives, personalities, and wills to Jesus Christ – plus faith that Christ will accept that commitment.
It is not enough to attend Church, or even to make a decision for Christ at an alter. We cannot walk successfully in the glow of that experience for the rest of our lives!
We need to return and renew those vows and covenants with the Lord. We need to take inventory and have regular spiritual checkups.
Jesus said, “If anyone desires to come after me, let him/her deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me” – Luke 9:23
Daily surrender – that is the key to daily victory.
Easter reminds us of Christ’s sacrifice, His total surrender to His Father’s will. It was to be a cruel death that was a result of that surrender, but it also always ends in life, each time we do surrender.
Today, right now, surrender your life to Jesus Christ and you too will find yourself walking in the power and newness of the resurrection life!
Ephesians 1:18 I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.
19 I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power 20 that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.
