Daily devotion – the day after the Resurrection of Christ
Act 1:8 “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
How wonderful to be in Church for Easter Sunday. People coming out in hope and faith in the risen Christ and His soon return. Easter is over yes, but NOW the mission begins!
For knowing that Christ was risen from the dead, now the disciples were to go into the world and preach the Gospel to all who would hear.
Mar 16:15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
But the disciples had to wait first, they could not just rush off in their own zeal and joy at Christ being risen from the dead.
No, they would need the power, wisdom, instruction and help of the Holy Spirit.
So too do we! Our own efforts will achieve nothing no matter how much passion and energy we put into it. This is God’s mission, and we are His humble instruments, His empty vessels to be filled with His power.
This is wonderful news when we stop to think about it. Because we run out of gas, we stumble, and we make mistakes. But knowing that it is the Holy Spirit who speaks to people’s hearts and has them open to the Gospel, it takes the pressure, the heat off us.
We do our part, but we must let God lead us and guide us when and how we speak and when are to speak His Word.
For God’s Word is an amazing tool under the power of God’s Holy Spirit. It goes into the deepest parts of every listening ear….Heb 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Knowing all this we can have confidence in God as we go out and take God’s good news!
This week, fulfil the Great Commission, be an evangelist and let God do everything else!
