Daily devotion – Diamonds in a dark world

Pastor Keith   -

Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, Who delights greatly in His commandments.
Psalm 112:1

Christians are supposed to be different than those who know not Christ as their Saviour and Lord.

In this dark and violent selfish world, we should sparkle as diamonds against a dark velvet background. We should be more wholesome than anyone else. We should be poised, cultured and gracious. We should have a serious firmness on the things we do or do not do. God’s grace and His love should be evident in how we live with our faith in Christ easily recognisable not hidden!

We are to live a lifestyle that reflects a refusal to allow this world to dictate its philosophies to us and to pull us down to its level.

Jesus meant for His followers to be different – and if they are truly following Him, they will be!

But merely being different is not enough. We are to be the cleanest, the most holy, the kindest, the most unselfish, the most courteous and the most loving people on earth.

The Bible says, Dan 12:3 Those who are wise shall shine Like the brightness of the firmament, And those who turn many to righteousness Like the stars forever and ever.

Dr Albert Schweitzer, the great missionary doctor and statesman, once said, “To be glad instruments of God’s love in this imperfect world is the service to which man is called.”
