Daily devotion – patience
1 Peter 1:7 These trials are only to test your faith, to show that it is strong and pure. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold–and your faith is far more precious to God than mere gold. So if your faith remains strong after being tried by fiery trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world
When Jesus had James and John’s mother approach Him about them having Mat 20:21 And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom.
Mat 20:22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.
The call of God on one’s life is a call to have courage!
A call to walk a path that is filled with testing and growing pains!
But it is a path with no short cuts!
Our world now wants everything fast, drive through, immediate, we have no patience, and this has flowed into many people’s walk with God.
Abraham was a very old man when God brought the promise of an heir, a son.
Moses thought his life was over after being exiled from Egypt now an old man watching over sheep.
My younger days were filled with more zeal than patience and many a mistake occurs when these two are out of sync. Maybe you are losing patience with a loved one, a prayer request, an answer from God?
One of the greatest lessons I have ever learned in my Christian walk is that God is never in a hurry! So many poor decisions and time wasting in my earlier years of walking with God, perhaps better described as running ahead of God, would have never occurred, if only I had the patience to wait on God.
Patience reveals your trust in God, your faith in God whilst our impatience reveals our distrust and our lack of faith in Him.
Take your foot off the pedal this week and begin to rest in His peace, and let God do what He does best, let Him run your life, let Him dictate your pace, today have patience and let your faith and trust grow greater in Him!
He will not fail you!
