Daily devotion – ten important words

Pastor Keith   -

Forgiveness in life!

Col 2:13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses,

One of the greatest pleasures in life is to be forgiven. When you have wronged someone, been out of order, and it’s been your fault, but the person who has been damaged by your wrong, in return gives you their forgiveness!

Jhn 3:16
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

In marriage this is the most beautiful gift to give and to receive. Eph 4:32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

Cliff Barrows who played an integral part in all of Billy Graham’s ministry would often give a message to Christian couples which he called,  “Ten Words that Will Safeguard a Marriage”.

These are the words….. “I was wrong…… Forgive me………I’m sorry…… I love you.”

This same formula will work to safeguard our individual spiritual lives as well. Remember I said that the example of marriage found in the Bible especially in Ephesians 5, contains not just teaching or wisdom for those in a marriage.

Couples need to learn to clean up problems as soon as they develop and not let them pass or fester. They need to be cleaned and erased every day.

Eph 4:26 “Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath.”

Understanding the spiritual dimension in marriage has profound implications.

Paul compared marriage – the union of husband and wife – to the eternal relationship between Jesus Christ and His Church – Ephesians 5:22-33.

Billy Graham said, “The perfect marriage is a uniting of three persons – a man, a woman, and God! That is what makes a marriage holy. Faith in Jesus Christ is the most important of all principles in the building of a happy marriage and a happy home.”

Tomorrow some very practical steps to undertake in the home.
