Daily devotion – there is help and hope
Cast all your cares on Him for He cares for you – 1 Peter 5:7
This morning let us remember we can’t live the Christian life alone. God did not save us and then cast us off, wishing us good luck.
So too, in our marriage relationship, it is our Lord who we can lean on and seek wisdom and help from to be the husband, the wife, the father or the mother God desires for us to be.
In a marriage where the Lord is a vital component, we each need to be supportive and encouraging to one another. In our world, you can be about your day and not have one word of support mentioned to you as you grind away your daily hours. But this should not and must not be the case at home.
We are to seek God’s help to be a spouse that listens carefully, with understanding.
For a Christian marriage to work and be a relationship under God’s authority, husband and wife are to get into the Bible. Reading, studying, and applying it to their life and marriage. Allowing God to flow into this essential relationship.
We are to learn to pray daily. Pray for each other. Pray about existing or potential problem areas. Cast your cares on God with the knowledge that He loves you and desires to bless your marriage and fill your home with His presence, if you open the door to Him daily!
Praying for one another creates better attitudes and leads to more profound sensitivity to the needs of one’s mate, producing better relationships. This is a fundamental value of Bible study and prayer.
It will help us anticipate problems as it makes us more spiritually sensitive.
The common problem wives share about their marriage is a lack of communication! When you are a person of prayer and of God’s Word, your hardness of heart is softened each day because of you being in the presence of God, and your love for your spouse is washed, invigorated and blessed by the Holy Spirit as you sit before God in obedience and worship.
If you are involved in serving at Church, serve together.
Philippians 2: 3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
The Humbled and Exalted Christ
5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus
As you read these verses, it brings us to our knees before God because selfishness is the most significant cause of marriage break up or struggles. Living for our own desires and not living for the person we promised ….for richer for poorer.
If you both are believers, God desires you to be submissive to Him as Lord and be submissive to one another; this is the true identity of love.
When Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, He submitted fully to the Father’s plan, which would lead Him the innocent One to be crushed with the weight of yours and my sin and the cruel death of the Cross of Calvary.
You can bring Heaven into your marriage. Your marriage can be healed. God is right with you now to do this if you both allow Him.
Pray to him now, pray for your wife, your husband, see them as Christ sees them. For He suffered and died to save them!
