Daily devotion – just another day

Pastor Keith   -

It’s Friday morning and just a couple of days before we gather together as Christ’s Church on Sunday. The youth and children will be gathering tonight and enjoying the Word of God and each other’s company. The war in Ukraine continues, those who subscribe to our web page should be getting the latest news on the ministry of Calvary Chapels in Ukraine at this time – simply awesome! Pray that we too might put our feet on the soil of Ukraine, Lord willing.

Interest rates have gone up again and the latest news from those who follow Australia’s financial situation say we are now a step closer to going into a recession.

A young Western Australian police officer is on life support as he was run down trying to halt car thieves on the weekend.

This is our everyday life as we wait on the return of our Lord.

Our hearts ache for family and friends who have not yet given or surrendered their lives to our Lord. Life is complex and its ever changing and challenging.

Many times, I was asked whilst attending the scene of a tragedy where police officers were dealing with human wreckage at the coal face, “Who do I turn to at these times? Who is my support?”

I was able to say with a quiet assurance that my Saviour Jesus Christ was my Comforter and my Counsellor. That He was the One who I could go to and seek His wisdom and support.

As Christians living in a fallen sinful world, let us remember we are the light, the salt, and we can be the good Samaritan, the listening ear. But most importantly, we have the Good News, the Gospel of Jesus Christ who came born of a virgin, died on the Cross at Calvary, rose from the dead three days later and is soon to return!

Each of us are on a mission – grace is what we have to share. Let us fulfil Christ’s Great Commission as His Church, He commanded us to go into all the world and preach the Gospel.

Our world, your family and friends, need us now like no other time. As believers, we are now no longer to live to please ourselves, now we live to fulfill God’s calling on our lives.

Will you do that? Will you make a change from living for your own self and begin to live for the reason God created you? To live for the glory of God! Will you begin the Great Commission in your life?

Col 3:17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
