This Week at Calvary
How great does our new platform look? We want to thank Ben and Joel Ockenden and his team of carpenters for their outstanding work and diligence for the changes in our sanctuary. In addition, we also want to thank Phil Roberts and Daniel Brine for patching and painting until the wee hours of the evening. Such a blessing for the glory of God! We want to recommend a book for you this week by R.Kent Hughes titled “Set Apart – calling a worldly church to a godly life.” In addition, for those wanting to study Jewish history linked closely with the Scriptures, you can now download “The Works of Josephus”,  for only $1.99, compared to recent paperback purchase price of $40. This is a great aid in particular, if you are travelling to Israel. Thank you to all those who filled in a Connection Card to be part of the servant’s team here at CCSH. Calvary Women’s Bible study and fellowship – Tuesday 8th August, due to the staggered school holiday periods just recently finishing. So, ladies in 2 weeks’ time, be sure to put that day in your calendar, for this unique time of study, prayer and fellowship with other godly women. CCSH men, a special BBQ night at Frank’s BBQ eatery, Friday 25th August. Please see Pastor Nathanael for further details.

Helen’s Heart I got up early one morning and I rushed right into the day. I had so much to accomplish I didn’t have time to pray. Problems just tumbled about me and heavier came each task. “Why doesn’t God help me?” I wondered. He answered, “You didn’t ask.” I woke up early this morning and paused before entering the day. I had so much to accomplish that I had to take time to pray.” – author unknown. We can get caught up in our scurrying that we can forget about our source of help. Are you facing a situation that seems insurmountable? Take time to pray. When I was in trouble I called to the Lord and He answered me – Psalm 120:1

The Praying Church
You are invited to pray alongside others in the prayer team each Sunday morning at 9:45am in classroom #1, but especially with the Church here at CCSH Wednesday evenings at 7:00PM. 1Pe 4:7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

From the Pastors Desk This week a well-known female musical artist died – (born Sinéad Marie Bernadette O’Connor; 8 December 1966 – July 2023), known professionally as Sinéad O’Connor. In 2017, O’Connor changed her name to Magda Davitt. After converting to Islam in 2018 she changed it to Shuhada’ Sadaqat, but continued to record and perform under her birth name. But it is her last known statement that she made being the reason I bring her to your attention today. She said she felt “completely lost!” Back in July 17, the singer paid tribute to her late son by stating she felt lost without him. We live in a world full of lost people, people who have suffered grief and will never recover and those who apart from God sense no purpose or reason for existence. This is not an isolated incident. We as believers have a message of hope and good news for all those who are lost. We know THE Shepherd who seeks out the lost. Jesus is His name. He came to seek and save the lost. This week would you step out in faith and share THE good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am sure that you know a person who too is desperately lost! Let is reach out in compassion and grace to share God’s precious love and forgiveness.

Short Sayings –
“Prayer is the most tangible expression of trust in God.”—Jerry Bridges
