Daily devotion – Christ is revealed

The Seeker of the Lost

Luke 19:10 (NKJV) “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

In the midst of discussions about the life of Jesus Christ, one atheist suggested writing a romance that would portray Jesus merely as a man among men, stripping away His divinity. General Lew Wallace took on this challenge, but as he delved into the life of Christ, he encountered something far greater than a mere man.

Through his meticulous study, General Wallace found himself facing the profound reality of the life of Jesus, a life marked by compassion, love, and a mission to seek and save the lost. The more he learned about Jesus, the more he was convinced that this man was indeed more than human.

General Wallace’s writing journey eventually led him to a transformative revelation: “Verily, this was the Son of God.” The seeker of truth became the one found by Truth Himself. The seeker of a man among men encountered the divine Savior who came to seek and save the lost.

2 Peter 3:9 reminds us of the heart of Jesus’ mission. The Lord is not willing that any should perish but desires that all should come to repentance. His love and longing for humanity led Him to take on human form, humbly entering our world to save us from our sins.

Seek Jesus with an Open Heart – As you explore the life of Jesus, approach the Scriptures with an open heart and a sincere desire to know Him. Invite the Holy Spirit to guide your understanding and reveal the truth of who Jesus is.

As you study Jesus’ life and teachings, take note of His compassion, mercy, and love for the lost and broken. Reflect on how His mission to seek and save the lost applies to your own life.

Jesus is still seeking hearts today. If you have not yet responded to His call of salvation, consider His loving invitation. Repent of your sins, believe in Him, and accept the free gift of eternal life that He offers.
Remember, the seeker of the lost is the Savior who desires a personal relationship with each one of us. His love and grace are extended to all, inviting us to find salvation, forgiveness, and new life in Him.

Matthew 11:28-30 (NKJV): “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
John 3:16 (NKJV): “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Acts 4:12 (NKJV): “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Prayer – Heavenly Father, thank You for the life of Jesus Christ, who came to seek and save the lost. Open my heart to encounter the truth of who He is and the depth of His love for humanity. Help me to respond to His call and experience the transformation that comes from knowing Him. May I find rest and peace in Jesus, the seeker of my soul. In His name, I pray. Amen.
